Town Government

The Town of Ithaca is a town of the first class (determined by population), governed by a Town Board consisting of seven “at large” elected Members, one of which is the Town Supervisor, who manages the day-to-day operations of the Town. The Town Clerk, Highway Superintendent, Receiver of Taxes are Town Officials appointed by the Town Board and there are two elected Town Justices.

The Zoning Board of Appeals and the Planning Board are quasi-judicial Boards which consider and rule on appeals and applications associated with building and zoning in the Town based upon the Town of Ithaca Code, the Comprehensive Plan and other Town and State regulations and policies.
