What We Do: The Planning Department provides technical planning services to Town
residents and the various Boards and Committees of the Town. Our primary functions include:
- Updating and implementing the Town’s Comprehensive
Plan and other long-range planning programs
- Coordinating site plan, subdivision and
environmental reviews
- Assisting applicants through the appropriate review
processes
- Assisting the various Boards and the Committees of the Town through research, writing regulations and making recommendations
- Conducting research on economic and demographic
conditions in the Town
- Maintaining a database on the Town’s population,
land use, housing, environmental conditions, community facilities, etc.
- Assisting in the planning and design of the Town’s
parks and trails
- Preparing grant applications under federal, state and
other funding programs
- Overseeing the preparation of special planning
studies and reports
Where We Are
Located: The Planning Department is located in the Town of
Ithaca Town Hall, 215 North Tioga Street, in downtown Ithaca, next to the Seneca
Street parking garage.
