Summer Employment with the Town of Ithaca Planning Department

Planning and Sustainability Intern Position


Description:  The Town of Ithaca Planning Department is looking to hire a student (undergraduate or graduate) for full-time employment for the summer of 2019. The position will involve assisting the Planning staff, including the Sustainability Planner, in a variety of projects, as well as in the daily routine of the Planning Department.  Projects may include research and data analysis, preparing materials for public meetings, mapping assignments, design of brochures and displays, the Green Building Policy project, and other activities related to the Town’s sustainability efforts.  Project assignments are likely to involve utilization of GIS software (ArcGIS) for mapping and geographic data analysis.  To learn more about planning and sustainability initiatives at the Town of Ithaca, visit www.town.ithaca.ny.us/planning and www.town.ithaca.ny.us/sustainability. 

Requirements:  Course work in planning, landscape architecture, environmental studies, energy use, sustainability, or other related fields.  Strong written and oral communication skills.  Experience with ArcGIS software and Microsoft Office is necessary. Local knowledge and possession of a driver license is desirable.

Pay is $15.30/hour.
