Currently all Codes Staff is working remotely on a daily basis, due to the COVID-19 virus. Codes staff is available for emergency response, if necessary. The voice message will be forwarded directly to one of our Code Enforcement Department staff. We will return your phone calls at our earliest opportunity. The Position

Town of Ithaca is looking to fill this Department Head position which oversees the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for the planning, directing and supervising of all Department of Public Works facilities and functions including but not limited to highway, water, sewer, parks, trails, preserves, walkways, sidewalks, storm-water, buildings and grounds as established by Local Law. 

The Town Highway Superintendent/Director of Public Works has the supervisory responsibility for the 30 employees of the department.   The Highway Superintendent shall have the duties and powers conferred upon him/her by law, including Town Law Section 32 and Highway Law section 140. The Town Highway Superintendent also serves as the Director of Public Works. 

Town of Ithaca Highway Superintendent/Director of Public Works is a Town Officer and is appointed by the Town Board and is not an elected official. Responsiveness to Town constituents and Town Board during emergencies circumstances is essential.
